There could hardly be a better time to study Management. The growth and development
of the Indian corporate sector has been unprecedented and sustained. Some of the
best Indian companies compete globally on equal terms with international giants.
In fact, the rate and the scale with which Indians are acquiring global companies
have surprised most observers. The Indian corporate sector will require professional
managers who are capable of charting out the future of these companies in a ruthlessly
competitive global environment. Also innovations and technological advancements
have brought the emerging industries such as Information Technology, Telecom, Biotechnology,
Automotive Engineering and Oil & Gas Engineering that are demanding management professionals
who have current knowledge of the emerging technologies and their business landscapes.
Today’s business enterprises are getting global and complex and unless they are
managed using modern ICT tools and infrastructure, it is impossible to compete in
the business world. In this sense, today’s business manager must be able to use
the IT productivity tools and also applications such as ERP, CRM, SCM as well as
Business Intelligence tools.
For the future destiny of the Indian corporate sector, what is really critical is
the availability of large number of professionally qualified IT savvy managers.
Notwithstanding the current economic crisis, we are today facing a severe crunch
in terms of the number of professionally qualified managers especially in emerging
industries. It is in this context that management degree has become a degree of
choice for a large number of young Indians and will continue to be so for the foreseeable
future. A degree in management fast tracks students’ career on a path in the corporate
sector that can fulfill their highest aspirations in the emerging world.
